SHOPPING NOTES
- You can haggle just about everywhere here, you will get less of a discount in the stores than you will in the market place but it is always worth asking for a discount.

WHAT TO WEAR
- Dress light and loose as the weather is generally 30-35 degrees year round. Shorts worn by man or women are not permitted in the temples and some formal temples may also require the women to wear tops with sleeves.

WHERE TO EAT
- Although not customary, tipping is becoming more widely practiced. A service charge of 10% is automatically charged to your bill.

WHAT TO BUY
- Cutlery is a brilliant buy as are silk products and natural cotton fashions. Brass Buddha’s and sapphires are both excellent buys.

GETTING AROUND/CAR RENTALS/TAXIS
- You will need an International Drivers License but the road signs are in both English and Thai so you should have no difficulty reading the signs. The biggest vehicle has the right away so, if you are over taken by a bus or a truck-get out of the way.

Wanting to rent a Tuk Tuk’ Get a firm price for the trip from your Tuk Tuk driver before embarking on the journey, these guys love to rip off the tourists. Taxis are generally metered and fair.
